Think of it like a bank heist, you have your explosives guy, your communications guy, your action guy, your stealth guy. No one could reach the goal alone, but together they accomplish it.
So, every band must attempt a rap/hip hop, and a rock, and a dubstep, and whatever other genres are determined. That way no one group has an advantage going into any given genre.
Scoring should be based on a points system, of which I have yet to work out the details. That would be decided after the number of participating bands is known.
I'm just throwing some ideas out there...
