Is there any other format you want to include?

OGG would be sweet.

I was gonna suggest that. From experience mixing audio/music at home I know ogg file support is very handy even if you think you'll never use/need it.

This is an excellent idea, but can't you make it so that it works more like an instrument. This way everyone will stop complaining about not having enough instruments... this will open up endless possibilities. Your idea is great, but there's not much difference between a recorder and your sample import except it's easier and you get a better quality, I could do the same with your sound recorder... I'm just saying...please think about it and ty for this idea.

You can name it simply "SAMPLER"

Also off-topic, but please make PM easier!!! Add a pm button on profiles, and let us be notified when we get PM's and I think people are not checking their PMS enough 'cause you would have to come to the forums to get your messages.

Thank you.
The time has come.

I'm with Sham on that emoticon. Better quality and easier to use is enough for me, but it also sounds like my idea took hold, and you'll be able to "start" the sample anywhere in the measure. Bonus over the recorder there is that you don't have to wait for 2-1/2 beats before playing the sample to get it where you want it to hit.

For example, I have a 1/2 second clip from a movie that I want to play on the 3rd beat of a measure. With the recorder, I'd have to wait an extra 2 full beats AFTER the recording starts and hope the player I'm using plays exactly when I want it to. Not only will this take out the doubt, but it would also save storage space and remove a lot of frustration.

Seba, now that I'm thinking about this a bit differently, I *DON'T* think setting this up to sync on a 16th-note is the best idea. I *DO* like the idea of a 16th-note grid better. The reason for this is maybe my sample has a bit of a "lead-in" to it, and I want a stressed part of it to hit on a note.

For instance, if my sample were a clip of somebody saying, "don't you dare punch me," I may want the "dare," or "punch" to be on the beat, and may not really care where the "don't you..." falls. If I could see a grid and a visual of the sound stresses in the audio file, I could line that up exactly as I'd want to.

Plus, MIDI files may be a nice format to include.

Totally different type of file. Midi files simply tell the program what notes to play and what sounds to use, as well as some other stuff like velocity, tempo, etc. They don't contain any actual audio data.

Imagine if we could plug a guitar in and control any of the synths/devices. :o

Gotta go change my britches now.

Nope. I've got a usb condenser mic and it sounds terrible. Plus my PC crapped out a yr ago and I haven't fixed it yet. Might get a laptop with my tax money and look into some usb recording software, especially since there's gonna be an import option.

My sister bought me a Behringer Guitar link UCG102. It comes with a free modelling amp and two demos. The free amp sucks but the other two are good. You have to restart them every 30mins though (demo).
It also comes with a compact DAW, which I don't use much, so I can't say how good it is.
For the price, I'd recommend it.
