The Sound Of Dubstep

Postby gibsonfan » 11 Sep 2011, 08:13

I made a short demo track giving examples of how to get some decent synth/wobble sounds suitable for dubstep.

Dubstep sounds & effects

Be sure to explore the EQ settings and the LFO, VCF patterns.

You need to create ROCKSTEP! :o

I like Method, which is available to lite users! Also Late Sampler, which I think is for pro only.

Important tip: use both kicks layered together on the Method kit... The snares, too! Though you can use the snappy one alone for sweet ghost notes or for a lighter section!

I tend to start with something like Late Sampler, but I move to whatever sounds most appropriate once I have more of the song written. Sometimes it gets a little unexpected. I think I've even used the British kit a couple of times. The trick is just to get some layers going. You want a tight, snappy top with a fat ass.
